LG KP500 Cookie is an affordable touch screen phone with decent features and a fun and friendly interface. It has got a youthful personality. It is one of the most compact touch screens in the market as it is only 11.9 mm thick and weighs a mere 89 grams.

Display:
The Cookie comes with a 3 inch 240 x 400 pixels resolution, 256K color, resistive touch screen display. The Resistive screens require a little more pressure in comparison to the capacitive ones for a command to be registered. But in Cookie its quite comfortable after a short while. The image quality, brightness and contrast is pretty good.

User Interface:
LG Cookie has very attractive Flash based touch interface with beautiful animations and transition effects. The icons are quick in response. The handset offers two home screens. The first is the Widget enabled and the second allows you to arrange contact icons. The widgets available are a clock, FM radio, music player, notes, slideshow, world clock and calendar. The main menu is decently organized and consists of four tabs displayed in a column on the right. They are for Communication, Entertainment, Utilities and Settings and all of them have their own sub-menus. Then there is the task manager with a launcher tab having many configurable shortcuts to different applications. The accelerometer sensor makes it so much fun.

Music:
LG Cookie has very good music player that comes with equalizer presets. It has excellent audio quality. The music player almost resembles ipod. Here you can arrange  tracks - by artist, album, genre and recently played. You can create your own playlists also. The handset also has FM radio with RDS whicn can be heard on loudspeaker also but the earphones have to be plugged for they serve as antenna. It stores up to 50 stations. Sound is loud and clear.

Memory:
Phonebook capacity is up to 1000 contacts along with full set of fields. You can make caller groups and you can assign a personal picture and a ringtone. The phone has an external card slot that can handle upto 16GB microSD card, which is among the largest currently available, so storage space is no problem.

Camera:
The handset offers a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera with resolution 2048 x 1536 pixels. It has no flash so photography in dim light is not possible. The positioning of camera lens is not very convenient as the holding finger often interrupts the view. The camera interface supports settings like white balance, effects and quality. The image quality is pretty good even without auto-focus. The video recording is elementary as It captures QVGA video @12fps. The file format is 3GP.

Image gallery
Image gallery is a great experience in touch phones and that is same for this one too. Pictures can be retrieved directly from file manager or through the dedicated gallery. Images can be seen in portrait or landscape mode just by changing the orientation of the handset. You can zoom the images too. LG KP500 also has an image editor where text typing, morphing, coloring is all possible. It has many more features like rotate, resize and mirror and many photo editing options like levels, brightness, contrast, color, sharpness, blur etc.

Organizer:
Although LG KP500 Cookie is not targeted at business people still it has a decent collection of easy to use time management and other applications. The Calendar offers monthly, weekly and daily views. It can store up to 500 calendar events in the categories like appointment, anniversary and birthday. The To-Do application can hold 500 tasks. A Memo feature can store up to 100 notes. The Date Finder can instantly tell the day of the week for any given date. You can also take backup of calendar events and to-do list on memory card. Then there is Alarm clock with 5 alarm slots available. Calculator, unit converter, stopwatch, world clock and voice recorder are some more applications for your perusal.

The LG KP500 Cookie has built-in Picsel viewer for viewing document like .doc, .xls and .pdf files but does not supports .ppt. Scrolling, zooming and text search is also possible while viewing documents. The documents can be seen in landscape mode too.

Messaging:
Messaging features SMS, MMS and email. For typing you have soft alphanumeric keypad or QWERTY keyboard in landscape view which works better with the stylus. There is also handwriting recognition if you can handle its accuracy. Email setup is easy and useful. It offers both POP and IMAP options and supports SSL also.

Internet:
The handset has a good web browser. You can browse web pages in landscape view with or without the controls visible. A tap on the screen brings back the controls. Zooming and scrolling is fast enough and pages can be dragged around with finger. The web browser history is displayed in the form of webpage screenshots.

Games:
LG KP500 Cookie comes with very interesting set of preinstalled games. Specially the accelerometer or the built-in motion sensor has made the dice games so much fun. In Flying Dices, you just roll a pair of dices by shaking the handset and play snakes & ladder, base ball and many more games. Turn the wheel of fortune in Wheel Mania to win. Apart from these, you have a Pipe game where you have to put together dismanteled pipes to complete the pipe system and get water running. Thomsons and Touch is a set of six mini touch-controlled games. Games can be downloaded too.
