NOKIA INTRODUCES NEW VERSION OF NOKIA MESSAGING WITH FREE PUSH EMAIL FOR INDIAN CONSUMERS

Free Instant Messaging service initially on Eseries devices
3 new QWERTY devices to address the growing messaging market

 

New Delhi, 26th April, 2010:  Nokia today launched a newer, improved version of Nokia Messaging with free push email service on all compatible Nokia Symbian devices, exclusively for consumers in India. The service will be available through all leading operators in the country and consumers will only have to pay the basic data download charges. Further, as part of the Nokia Messaging Service (NMS) portfolio, Nokia will also offer free Instant Messaging (IM) services, preloaded on select devices.  The company also unveiled the Nokia C3, Nokia C6 and Nokia E5, its new range of QWERTY devices to make email, chat and QWERTY devices available at affordable prices to more consumers in the country.

The service is already in use by over three million people in more than 100 countries. Nokia Messaging (consumer push email):

Nokia Messaging is a push email UI that aggregates all multiple consumer email accounts through one client. It can support and mobilize up to 10 email accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, Rediffmail, Sify and Indiatimes amongst others.  Nokia’s email solution removes the barriers and prohibitive costs associated with mobile email Nokia Messaging is easy to configure (simply in 3 steps!) with the consumer having to click on the email icon and then enter his email address and password. It ensures easy toggling from one email account to another, without closing the existing email account, and without having to go through the web browser. Supported on more than 33 Symbian device models, it has over 3 million active users in more than 100 countries today.


Nokia Messaging (IM):

Nokia’s Instant Messaging Service enables users to mobilize all of the popular chat clients like Windows Live™ Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger® or Google Talk straight on the Nokia device. The chat client allows users to have multiple conversations across multiple communities at the same time, change their status by community and manage their buddy lists. The IM service will initially be pre-loaded on Nokia E63, E71 and E72 devices.

Nokia also unveiled three new handsets to bring mobile messaging and social networking into the hands of more people at affordable prices. These include:

 

Nokia C3: The most affordable Messaging device

The Nokia C3 has been built with social networking in mind as it is the first Series 40 phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, providing this feature at very affordable price points.  The Nokia C3 comes with  Nokia Messaging, Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat, meaning first time users can set up email and chat accounts straight from the device, without the need for a PC. Other features include Wi-Fi connectivity, a two megapixel camera, rich color screen, and support for up to 8GB memory card.  It comes in a variety of colors including golden white, slate grey and hot pink.  The Nokia C3 is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2010 at an estimated retail price of 90 EUR, before taxes.


Nokia C6: Convenience of Touch and a full keyboard

The Nokia C6 is a Symbian-based smartphone combining the benefits of a 3.2 inch touch screen with a full slide out QWERTY keyboard. The large screen provides a great Internet experience, as well as offering access to Facebook feeds directly on the homescreen.  A full suite of email and social networking capabilities means the Nokia C6 is perfect for people who want to stay up to date while on the go. The Nokia C6 has impressive features including a high quality five megapixel camera with autofocus and flash and Ovi Maps with free lifetime navigation. In addition, the Nokia C6 can be personalized with thousands of apps – whether its games and videos to news aggregators and web services – all available in the Ovi Store.  It is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2010 at an estimated price of EUR 220, before taxes.


Nokia E5: Stay connected the way you prefer
The Nokia E5 brings together high quality business features and entertainment capabilities. Perfect for managing busy schedules, the Nokia E5 combines a full QWERTY keyboard and multiple work and personal email accounts. With a variety of productivity applications available in the Ovi Store and one touch connection to instant messaging, personal email and social networks, it’s easy to keep in contact from anywhere. Additionally, it comes with Ovi maps and free navigation amongst other interesting features.  It also includes a 5 megapixel camera and super fast internet over wireless LAN and 3G. Estimated price of the Nokia E5 is EUR 180, before taxes, with expected availability in the third quarter of 2010.
