BT sets up Global Operations Centre in India 

BT today announced the opening of its Global Operations Centre at Gurgaon, India, in presence of Sir Mike Rake, Chairman, BT Group and Ben Verwaayen, CEO - BT Group among other BT executives. The Global Operations Centre will employ up to 300 highly skilled professionals who will run systems and processes for the various BT lines of business in addition to providing functional support to Group functions such as Procurement, Legal, Finance & HR. Airtel launches for the first time in India a range of M-Commerce solutions in a wide ranging partnership 
with HDFC bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, Corporation Bank, VISA and mChek

This new 65nm, single-core 1 GHz DSP also doubles acceleration, delivering improved data throughput and reduced latency for better quality of service – and potentially eliminating the need for a costly RISC co-processor. Local calls to all networks @ 90p/min from MTNL's Dolphin & Trump Mobile 
In its perseverance to add more value to its customers and benefit them through economical call rates, MTNL has reduced the rates of all local calls for its Dolphin and Trump customers.  The earlier calls to other operators were Rs 1.50 in Trump prepaid and Rs 1.20 /min in Dolphin postpaid depending on the plan. But now all local calls will be charged at 90p/min from Trump.  For Dolphin postpaid the call rates will be as low as 30 paise per minute upto maximum of 90p/min depending on the subscription plan.  The reduced call rate is applicable from 26th January 2008.  The call rates for Dolphin One India plan,Dolphin Jeevansathi and Trump One India coupons will remain unchanged.

MTNL Mumbai has launched "MTNL Play Tunes" its Colour Ring back tone (CRBT) service for its GSM Mobile customers from 16/1/2008.  MTNL has partnered with OnMobile Global Ltd. to deploy the CRBT service in Mumbai. The service offers MTNL Dolphin (Postpaid) & Trump(Prepaid) customers, the option to set their favorite songs as ring back tone for callers to listen to instead of the routine "Tring Tring". Airtel simplifies prepaid card tariffs 
Airtel today announced that it has reduced its local outgoing call tariffs to Re. 1 /- per minute. With effect from January 03 2008, *all Airtel prepaid mobile customers whose existing local call rates are more than Re 1 per minute will be migrated to the revised tariff of Re 1 per minute without any conditions attached. This applies to any local call made from an Airtel prepaid mobile to an Airtel mobile, an Airtel prepaid mobile to any other mobile network in the same circle & an Airtel prepaid mobile to any local landline number. This is a significant initiative that further reinforces Airtel’s commitment to make mobile communication more affordable and provide greater value to its customers.
