Aircel brings extra delight to its customers this festive season -launches exciting video calling benefits
 
  In its quest to take a lead in the country’s data revolution, Aircel, one of India’s leading telecom players, has launched exciting video calling benefits across its 3G circles. Aircel customers will now enjoy new tariffs of 1.6 paisa per second on video calls (Aircel to Aircel). There is ‘Extra’ reason to cheer for Aircel customers as apart from standard data benefits offered in Aircel products PI 29 and PI 128, now Aircel customers will be able to enjoy ‘Extra’ video calling benefits (Aircel to Aircel) of 10 minutes and 100 minutes respectively. Aircel aims to increase data usage and penetration by offering more value to its customers.

     P Balaji, MD Nokia India launched Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet in India which is Nokia's first 6 inch device. Speaking on the occasion he said that India is among the top three markets for Lumia range of devices globally. During the third quarter of 2013, Nokia sold 8.8 million Lumia devices worldwide recording 19% growth. Since its launch Nokia has sold 36 million units of Lumia phones globally. In India Nokia has launched ten phones under Lumia series in last few months.

T V RAMACHANDRAN RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS IET HONORARY FELLOWSHIP FOR CONTRIBUTION TO THE GROWTH OF TELECOM
      In recognition of his decades long contribution to mobile telephony in India, T.V. Ramachandran, Resident Director – Regulatory Affairs, Vodafone India has been bestowed an Honorary Fellowship of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Mr. Ramachandran received the award in a heritage event venue called The Brewery in Central London in a packed auditorium of over 300 dignitaries. An MSc in Physics with specialisation in wireless and electronics, Mr. Ramachandran is also currently Chairman of the National Telecom Council of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India as well as Co-Chairman of the Telecom Committee of the European Business Group in India. more...

Motorola is re-launching itself in India in January 2014 with its latest low-cost smartphone Moto G
     Motorola, the mobile handset manufacturing company acquired by Google Inc in 2012 is re-launching itself in India in January 2014 with its latest low-cost smartphone Moto G. The phone is priced at one third the cost of comparable smartphones by Apple and Samsung. According to Motorola Chief Executive Dennis Woodside, there are about 500 million potential buyers of smartphones with the Moto G's price tag. The phone features Google search, Gmail email and other Google Web services. Although Moto G lacks some of the high-end components found in iPhone 5C or Samsung Galaxy S4, but Moto G's 4.5 inch touchscreen and 1.2 Gigahertz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor are leagues ahead of what is available in other low-cost smartphones, which are often based on older technology.

Vodafone Institute Survey reveals mobile phones spurring social and economic development
In India and elsewhere, mobile phones have become an intrinsic part of most people’s lives, connecting them to the rest of the world. A study entitled, ‘Mobile Technologies – The Digital Fabric of our Lives’, reveals how these small devices are economic heavyweights that positively influence social development. Conducted by the Cologne Institute for Economic Research (IER Cologne) on behalf of the Vodafone Institute for Society and Communications, the study reveals that India’s per capita GDP will grow by US$51 per year between 2010 and 2020 due to rising mobile phone subscriptions. more...

Microsoft buys Nokia’s Devices & Services business for 5.44 billion Euros
Nokia Corporation today announced that it has signed an agreement to enter into a transaction whereby Nokia will sell substantially all of its Devices & Services business and licence its patents to Microsoft for EUR 5.44 billion in cash, payable at closing. Nokia expects to book a gain on sale of approximately EUR 3.2 billion, and expects the transaction to be significantly accretive to earnings. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014, subject to approval by Nokia shareholders, regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. more...
